Fat or Healthy? Can I Have Both?
Many times, we hear that it's better to be fat and healthy than thin and ill. I agree with this, but I think if we couldn't have both the great health and the harmonious body which turns heads on the street. Of course, if you are a big fat weight loser, you cannot expect this to happen over night. You gained your fat in several years. What makes you think you can get rid of it in one week without a chain sword?

Weight loss tips are not always so easy to follow, and I strongly believe that health goes very well with health specialists, so I'd go for a nutritionist's advice before attempting anything that might harm me for good.

I want to be slim and healthy, so tomorrow I have my first appointment with a dietitian. Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted.

Plans For The Future
I've made some plans for the near future, which I want to share with you. First of all, I decided to join a camp for weight loss. I've heard about these weight loss camps long time ago from a friend, but I never thought they could have been useful. Now, as I lack motivation and I'm experiencing food cravings which are almost impossible to disregard, I think I want to try that.

Secondly, I want to give up all those diet pills that work, because I noticed that they actually work on a very short term only, and I find myself even fatter each time
I stop taking them.

Thirdly, I want to continue my studies and become a great doctor. I'm passionate about medicine, I've always been, but I never thought I might be able to do that as a living. Now I think I can. I only need determination and discipline. You'll see, my friends, this is why I've written my goals here, so I can have the chance to read them daily and remind myself that I can.

How Do You Tell You're Fat?
Fat and slim are relative notions. While almost everybody can recognize a slim person when they see one, a fat person is much harder to identity, because we have different standards and preferences in what overweight really is.

One standardized measure of how fat people are is the Body Mass Index. Briefly known as BMI, this index is a measure of a person's weight in relation with the height of that person. Because it is cheap and simple, it can be used on a large scale worldwide for screening people who might have weight issues. Under no circumstances a diagnosis should be set based solely on the BMI. It is not its purpose and it doesn't reflect any data regarding the health status of that person, nor can it give indications on the percentage of body fat. So, after the initial sceening is done, more precise and thorough tests and medical investigations are required before a diagnosis can be set and a treatment prescribed.

Nevertheless, for simple people who just want to keep their body weight under control, the Body Mass Index is an excellent alarm signal to stop you from eating all those ice creams and drinking all those beers.

If you want to see how fat you are according to this index, you can input your data in this BMI calculator and see it for yourself if you are OK, you need to eat more, or you need to learn some tips to lose weight.
